Ziad Bashir is a director of Gul Ahmed Textile Mills, where he has served on the board since February 1999 and played a key role in transforming the company’s IT infrastructure, and is the founder director of Ideas by Gul Ahmed. In 2026 he was installed as chairman of the Pakistan Business Council, the advocacy platform created by fourteen of the country’s biggest business groups, whose members account for around 40% of national exports, 25% of tax receipts and 11% of GDP. He has advised government at the highest levels as a member of the Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Committees, overseeing domestic commerce and information technology, and was founding chairman of the Pakistan Retail Council. A graduate of Babson College and a certified director from the Pakistan Institute of Corporate Governance, he is also CEO of Arwen Tech and has served as Honorary Consul General of Denmark in Karachi since 2015 — a role for which he received the Knight’s Cross of the Order of the Dannebrog in 2025.
